It's getting hot in here

Oakland and Berkeley!

Soooo today we woke up early, had our oatmeal-porridge-fruit-joghurt-bowl and then - drove by Bart to Oakland. Bart is the local train and not a person ;-)













In Oakland, Carson picked us up with his car and drove me and Andrea to the post office - some of you may get a letter or a postcard...
Then Carson showed us probably the most awesome thing in Oakland - the local Farmer's market! Such a great place! Music, local farmes selling their fruit and veggies, organic coffee, soooo much to eat. And the good thing is: you get to try most of it! Ate some great dates and really fantastic peaches!

This pic pretty much shows our love for pomegranate!!! Yessss!!

The weather was insane again. Way too hot!! So first thing: grab a juice! I tried kale with lemon and mint, Andrea got a juice with beetrot and lime - so good!

 

Then we had some very delicious vegetarian and vegan burritos!

And theeeen we had some iced coffee ;-) been eating all day - it was fantastic!

Then Carson took us to the Lake Merritt - say hi to Carson ;-)

The lake was sooo beautiful! But sooo hot too!

After the lake we went to downtown which has some pretty cool buildings.

We went to a store which had posters on the wall which kept me thinking: portraits of men or woman with black skin who where shot by the police. That statement!!! Wowww!
 

Then we met the wonderful girlfriend of Carson - Kate! Together we drove to Piemont which is an area of Oakland where the - let's say more wealthier people - live. Look at this! Reminded me of the mysteria lane in "Desperate Housewives".

We definitely need that Halloween decoration in the garden of my parents next year!!!

The houses were really impressive but I expected someone to drive a fancy car! Haven't seen one mercedes or BMW...
Our next stop was the famous Fenton's creamery to get some icecream which is famous from the movie "Up". Sooooo gooood! Got a pumkin icecream. Wanted to buy 2 scones first but I thought that then I would look like an icereammonster. But after paying my single scone I saw that Andrea got 2 scones!!! Helloooo?!? OK now she is the icecreammonster ;-) But it was really great icecream. Will definitely come back for more pumkin icecream soon.

Now one serious question? Have you felt THE fear, have you seen how dangerous Oakland is?? I wore a kevlar west the whole day  - HAHAHAA NOOOOT!!! Everyone who told me to take care must be insane. I felt more in danger in my hometown when that creepy guy came out of the bushes at 3am... so I felt really safe in Oakland and had a really great time!

After Oakland we drove to Berkeley - another great place! We went to visit the university and after that had a stroll through the streets and did some shopping.

We were really exhausted from walking around so much and the hot weather. At home I cooked us some nice pasta and made some guacamole with a salad - I like eating...

Could get used to the days of strolling around, having a headache because the sun drives you crazy but you get to eat tons of food! Life is good!

Thanks to Carson and Kate for a great time! Hope we can do that again very soon!

Tomorrow we are going to San Francisco - yeah yeah yeah!
