Day after day

On the first day of my roadtrip we wanted to start early in the morning. But because of a damaged water pipe in San Francisco half of the apartments at City View didn't had any water. So Gerardo, Alex and Gizem had to come over to our place which luckyliy had water. So we started with a delay and drove Alex to the airport. Gerardo's car was sooo packed that to the airport with Alex's luggage we thought we would never arrive. So after dropping Alex we finally stared. Our first stop was in Monterey. It took us around 1.5hours to get there. The weather was warm but not so sunny. We saw the old and new Fisherman's Wharf and went for Chinese food.

 

Then we continued to drive to Carmel which was a 30minute drive further south away. Carmel looks nice with the buildings and houses and the streets, but I felt really poor there. Carmel is where the rich people live and so tell the stores Tiffany's, Kate Spade, Coach,... We continued our drive even further south to Big Sur which is directly on the coast.

Everyone always says that route 1 and Big Sur are the highlights or California but I have to admit I was a bit disappointed. It is just a ride on the coast of the cliffs, but in winter it is often foggy there and when it gets dark and you have to ride another 2 hours on the cliffs with serpentines it's not really that much of fun. It is a nice view but nevertheless once you saw it, it's ok :-)

We didn't book any hotel in advance so we just booked a special price 3 Star hotel which turned out to be a really good one in Santa Maria and we got an upgrade aswell!! Yeah!
