Our flight went ok. Michael drove us to the airport Washington Dulles on monday morning very early. Thanks again Michael for that!!! We arrived about 2h before our flight was supposed to depart - but still had to hurry very bad! We flew with United Airlines. When I told my dad about flying with United before I left Germany he said that the last time he had to fly with United was about 15 years ago - then the stewardesses were about the age of a grandma and he was sitting next to the toilet. I was laughing so much when we found our seats - right next to the toilet - hahaaa and the stewardesses were sooo old. Guess some things never change ;-)
Definitely too much luggage...
Washington Dulles Airport
It took us 5h and 15 minutes until we arrived in San Francisco. Then we grabbed our luggage and went to the rental cars. Without navigation we managed to drive to Hayward! Andrea is really good with reading maps - I did the driving. US highways are sooo different from what we know from Germany! The back mirror is so confusing as it has a magnifier in the mirror - what the hell?? So all vehicles behind you feel like being giant cars!! Crazy!
We arrived at Hayward in our Apartments at about 2.30 pm. The apartments are great! We have a pool and everything reminds me of my family holidays back in Spain a few years ago. Andrea and I share a room, Meikel and Stephan are sharing the other room. We have a very big living room, a kitchen and 2 bathrooms. The best thing about our room is definitely the big closet which is just soooo big!!
Our first drive went to the California State University East Bay as Andrea and I need signatures to receive financial support from our hometown university. The campus looks really big but we found the office we needed to go real quick.

After the signatures we went to Walmart to shop some basics - shampoo, toilet paper, noodels, oat meal in xxxxxl portions,... We drove home at around 6pm from the supermarket.
We had spaghetti for dinner and were really exhausted because of another 3 hours time difference from Washington. Had a good slepp in our new beds and woke up today at around 10am.
Today we went shopping again: Walmart 2.0 to buy towels and a coffee machine and other stuff. Then we had dinner at Chipotles - a rice bowl which was so big that we ate the leftovers now for dinner.
It took us the whole day to do the shopping which was quite annoying as it was fantastic weather and the pool was looking pretty nice! We just ate our leftovers and made some guacamole - yumyum!
Tomorrow we will drive to Oakland Airport where we will drop the rental car and then visit San Francisco for the first time! Very excited!
