Beneath your beautiful

New York Day 4 - did you know that Emili Sande wrote that song about New York? Now you are informed about that... and it is soooo true!

We woke up this morning very early and got our bags packed. Then we went to see the waterfront in New Jersey. Quite a pitty that we didn't had time to go there by night...

Here are some pics of our airbnb:

Our room was a mess 5 minutes after we arrived...

Our host even had a wild and very dangerous animal which I caught eating some bloody meat ;-)

New York was great! We walked a lot and were pretty exhausted after the long walks, the hectic rush and the super hot weather. But it was sooo worth it! Here are some differences I noticed to Germany:

People help you with everything. They help you queuing, they help you take your ticket to ride the metro. Why don't we have such assistants in Germany??? Would make life sometimes sooo much easier!

People are friendly! Yeah we Germans can be very rude... Here everyone asks you if you are lost and need help - really nice! Go Germans, work on your kindness!

The heat in the underground is weird. On the platforms it has about 40 degrees and on the train around 10. What is this thing with the AC? Why do you have to cool every place down like a giant refrigerator??? During the broadway musical the whole audience was freezing like hell...

Today we took the metro one last time, to get to our busstation in New Jersey. With Boldbus - which is somehow connected to Greyhound - we drove to Washington. The Bus was 1h late. The driver was stuck in traffic and if he had continued to drive, he would have exceeted his daily legal time limit. Sooo we had to wait 1h for another bus, with another driver to come... Goodbye estimated arrival at 4pm... The Bus was an old one, but you have soooo much space for your feet, way better than any planeride!! And the whole ride did cost only 22 bucks. But with the late driver we were sooo stuck in traffic and arrived in Washington around 6pm. We drove through Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland to get to Virginia. There was a stop in Baltimore which looked first pretty nice, but then came a ghetto and we were glad that we did not have to get off the bus... Lunch the American way:

Then we drove with the metro to our hotel. We are staying at the Hyatt in the area Arlington. The hotel is actually a pretty good one :-) But when booking it was sooo cheap - unbelievable. JACKPOT!

We will have two full days in Washington and we are very excited how different from NYC this is going to be!

Distance on an airplane: 4289 miles
Distance rode on a bus: 234 miles
Time on airplanes: 10hours
Time on a bus: 6hours
Amount being called sweetie until now by woman: 4
