North shore

Today we woke up early as we met with Anna-Lena a friend from our home university. We picked her up in Honolulu then drove towards the north shore. We wanted to do a hike but the weather in the mountains didn't look good so we drove to a pineapple plantation first. We had a nice icecream and hell yeah those pineapples are really, really good!! Did you know how pineapples are planted? I didn't... they start like carrots under the earth but make their way up to the light and over the earth - very interesting! The weather today changed from super sunny to rainy and windy. But all in all it was good!

We continued with a short trip to Waimea Bay but the waves are sooo huge that the beach is closed.

From there we drove to make a short hike, the Ehukai Pillbox hike. It was pretty exhausting in the beginning but the view for a 30mins hike was great!

We drove to Hale'iwa a small town which was really nice. Andrea and I ate garlic shrimps from a shrimp truck which was soooo goooood! Then we had a stroll through the city before going to the beach there. Usually there are a lot of turtles but a huge amount of tourists was so stupid to chase them off. We watched the surfers for a while and the waves were soooo huge that almost all of them crashed into the waves. Then we drove back to Honolulu and had dinner with Anna-Lena and her roomies.
