Lahaina

Today we went to Lahaina which is a nice old city further north of Kihei. We passed nice beaches and places on our way. Lahaina was a bit touristy and finding a parking spot was horrible. We strolled through the stores, bought some postcards (damn writing 20 takes foreverrrrr) and magnets.

 

We went to Maui Coffee which was really cool. They have a store where they sell all their different sorts of coffees and we were able to try some of their roasts. Both of us grabbed an iced coffee which was really good and not at all comparable to Starbucks - way better!!

Then we went to the beaaaach again! Yes, yes, yes!! It was super windy today compared to yesterday but it still was hot! I like the wind, it makes you sweat a bit less ;-)

For sunset we went to a place called 5 palms. They are on happy hour around sunset at it was packed. We had some cocktails and some sushi - great way to end the day!

Welcome to Maui

Yesterday we flew in from O'ahu. Maui is a great place so far. The beaches are amazing and the people are wayyyy more friendly than in O'ahu and hey they have been nice there too ;-) So we arrived at 7am  which means we had to get up at 3.30 to drive to the airport and return the car. The funny thing was that we were at the airport around 1h and 15mins before the flight was supposed to fly and hey - the terminal was still closed :-) hahaaa that's hawaiian style! Nevertheless our flight was on time and it was an empty flight which took us around 35 minutes. When we arrived in Maui we went to get our new car which we loaded with our stuff, turned the engine and bling bling cooling water was missing. So we got an upgrade with a bigger car ;-) nice!

We drove for breakfast, then to Kihei where we are staying. We are staying at an airbnb and that guy we are renting from gave us a lot of advice where to go and what to do. Our first thing to do in Maui was to chill which we did the whole afternoon! It was great weather and we enjoyed doing nothing on the beach except for hanging out in the ocean with an inflatable mattress floating around. Yesss! For dinner we went to Pizza madness which was a real mad experience ;-) huuuuge pizzaaaa! Yumyum!

Lanikai Pillbox Hike

This morning our 3rd try to watch sunrise failed because it was cloudy. But we did a nice hike to pillboxes with a great view over Lanikai. The hike was exhausting but the view was worth it.

We continued up the eastside and made some stops at nice places. We went to Heeia first to see the fishponds.

We did a stop at the beach for lunch and then went to a "village" of foodtrucks to eat some garlic shrimps with rice. For desert we stopped for a pineapple tiki which is a pineapple smoothie in a whole pineapple. Then it started to rain again and we drove back to Kailua where we did one last walk on Lanikai beach. Tomorrow we are leaving for Mauiiiiiii!

Finding Nemo at Hanauma Bay

Today we woke up early again, it was our 2nd try to see the sunrise buuut it was cloudy again. So we took another nap before having breakfast. Then we drove down the eastcoast again. But before we stopped here in our city Kailua for a nice coffee.

The weather was getting even better, the more south we went to the eastcoast. We stopped at some beaches.

Just a bit windy out there...

Then we went Hanauma Bay where you can snorkel! Sooo our mission for today: finding nemo!! And I found him ;-)

We chilled on the beach after snorkeling for a loooong time before it started getting cold, then we drove to Waikiki for sunset which was really nice! For food we went to Ala Moana Center which is a huuuuge mall and both of us bought some nice bikinis at Victoria's secret. Great day! Definitely wanna go snorkeling again!!!
