Paia and some turtles

Yesterday we woke up and it was raining like hell! I hung a towel in the garden over night to dry and it was dripping wet... So what to do on a rainy day? You go shopping! We went to Paia a small town up north where there are cute little stores located. We strolled around and had a nice acaii bowl! Yummy!

Unfortunately we missed the Superbowl but we saw that in every bar there was a great atmosphere!

Our Airbnb neighbors are from Germany too so we decided to hang with them and babysitt their little girl which is super cute. We went to a beach where we saw some huuuuge turtles! And the Ho'okipa Beach is known for a surfer spot too but as the waves weren't that huge, there were none...

Whale Cruise

Today we went on a whale cruise which actually was a snorkel trip. But as whales are out here in Hawaii everyone goes crazy for a reason! We had to get up super early because the boat was leaving at 6.30am from a harbour in our neighbor city. The crew was nice and made it even more fun. The water had around 65 degrees Fahrenheit which was a bit chilly. So the crew recommended wetsuits which we wore. Our first stop was to the Molokini Crater and there where sooo many fish! Our underwater camera hopefully snapped some action! Then the boat continued to turtle beach buuuut I didn't saw a turtle... whatever! It was a cool trip including food and drinks and nice conversation with cool people all over the world! And of course we saw a lot of whales which give birth to their babys in Hawaii before going back to Alaska for food.

After the cruise we chilled the whole afternoon at Launiupoko Beach until sunset.

Road to Hana

Yesterday we woke up suuuper early as we drove all the way across the island to do the road to Hana. Hana is a pretty small town but the road to get there is pretty amazing. Its narrow, curvy and exhausting to drive but the stops on the road can be pretty impressive! It took us the whole day to get through it. We drove from Kihei to where the road to Hana starts which was around an 1 hour drive. Our first stop at Road to Hana were the Waikamoi Falls which were really nice! If the weather would have been better we could have taken a dip but it was early in the morning so we decided not to.

A lot of falls didn't have any water because it didn't rain a lot lately. Our second stop was Honomanu Bay where there is a black-sand beach and mostly locals use that place for fishing.

We continued to Ke'anae where we bought some banana bread and enjoyed the view over lava rocks.

With some stops the road to enjoy the view we continued to Wai'anapanapa State Park which had a black-sand beach too. Their Pa'iloa Beach was really nice!

From there we drove to the Halaekala National Park to do a trail in the bamboo forest the Pipiwai Trail.

From there it took us around 2,5 hours to get home. The streets were offroad and hell yeah that was a trip! But we made it! And we got that sunset in return ;-)
